Dark times

If I could go back and confront anyone it would be my ex- boyfriend who found the need to beat on me.  I would like to know exactly what he was thinking when he hurt me and why he would try to kill me.  What did I do to set him off and why he didn’t just walk away and leave me?  I do get updates on his whereabouts so I do have the chance to confront him. But that would be opening up myself for danger and I would rather leave the subject alone. I would like to know though but I doubt it will ever happen.
